Dr. Madrigal has received multiple honors and memberships from the Societies of Oncology in Mexico and Hematology in Argentina and Spain. The Society of Bone Marrow Transplants chose him as president. He has also been awarded the highest recognition in Europe in his specialty, the Van Bekkum Award, by EBMT. He was awarded by the Government of Mexico with the Ohtli distinction, word Nahuatl meaning "way". This recognition is granted to people who have dedicated most of their life and professional activity, to "open a gap to Mexicans" abroad.
He has received the titles of "DOCTOR HONORIS CAUSA", by the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom, by the University of Odessa, Ukraine and by the University of Guadalajara.
